YOUTH DOE CONTEST

Youth interested in applying for the 2010 Great Lakes Fiber Festival Angora Goat Program:

· Must be between 9 and 18 years old
· Must submit an application postmarked by May 15, 2010 that includes:

1. A 250-300 word essay which introduces you, your experience with animals, explains your interest in angora goats and answers the question: “Why I would like to help raise and promote angora goats.”
2. Each applicant must include two letters of recommendation from their 4-H advisor, FFA Advisor, veterinarian, teacher or clergy.
3. The winner(s)* must be present at the 2010 Great Lakes Fiber Festival in Wooster, Ohio.
4. The application must include name, address, phone and if available, email address.

Requirements if selected:

..Must be present to receive the goat at the Great Lakes Fiber Festival in Wooster,Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, May 28 & 29, 2010.

..Must exhibit the goat at least twice in 2010 at
1) a county fair or local goat show and
2) the State Fair in the state where the recipient lives or another open show.

..Must either use the goat's fleece to personally make a mohair item or sell the fleece.

..Must submit a 250-300 word report, with at least two pictures, to the donor by Feb. 15th, 2010

Winner(s) understands that as a recipient of the Great Lakes Angora Goat Program she/he cannot resale the animal, place animal in market or have animal slaughtered.
